The evening primrose is a pioneer plant with yellow flowers which can resist temperatures as low as -25°C. On the American continent, it appears to have survived Ice Ages 70,000 years ago. The plant flowers in the evening and closes again in the morning. It is particularly rich in oenothein, a molecule known to activate the “calcium flash” (the “rapid” movement of calcium into skin cells).
